Differences between an extra email address and a recovery email

An extra email address or recovery email help manage your Yahoo account in different ways.

Send and receive emails with an extra email address

• All your emails in one place - Emails sent to your extra address go to your inbox.
• It's a second email address - An extra email address lives within your existing account.
• Send emails - Select your extra email address in the "From" drop-down menu to send from that address.

A recovery email helps you get back in to your account

• Update your account info - A recovery email address isn't required, but it's good to have one.
• Recover your account - If you forget your password, we'll send a verification email to your recovery email.
